In May 1930 the machinery, parts and equipment for the production of the Luger was moved from the Berlin BKIW (DWM) under the direct supervision of Herr August Weiss to Mauser-Werke in Oberndorf. Although initially assembled by Mauser from DWM parts, within four years Mauser was producing its own Parabellums. |

The GNR were specifically developed for the Austrian-made Hirtenberg ammunition. Owing to the variations in loading , Mauser never regarded these as reliable but the Portuguese were pleased. The consignment of 564 guns were dispatched from Oberndorf in September 1935. These were the "v" series of which the know guns are recognized between 4301v-4350v serial number. |
